Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

- Hebrews 12:2

Many people authored the Bible, so What did Jesus author?  Vine's Expository Dictionary tells us that this author is one who sets a precedent in faith and far surpassed any example of faith up until that time, in fact, all time.

As the finisher of our faith, He is the 'perfecter' of our faith. In Matthew 5:48, Jesus suggests what mark of greatness we should follow, when He said, "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect" bringing ur ministry to completion, in want of nothing to perfect it.  Some of us don't know what our ministry is, and some do, while others have an inkling. This ambiguity makes perfecting it confusing. We can ask the Lord to help us identify where we should be in ministry.

You may be a pray'er, or an encourager, or a front-liner, or something else entirely. You may undertake a few roles in your church before the Lord settles you into something.

What do you do in the meantime? You do whatever you have been asked to do, with aplomb, dignity and fervent character.

You may be the Pastor's or Elder's wife? Sometime you will hear things you should, and other times you may find discussions are too confidential for your ears between the Pastor and the congregant. Don't get curious like the proverbial cat. Keep discretion close by at all times. This one role will test your faith over and over.  You may be called to host meetings at your place. Be the sweetest host the world has ever seen. What do you need to be a host? Control, dignity, patience, long-suffering, expecting the odd-thing to be broken, expecting couches and chairs to wear out, expecting food on the floor sometimes, expecting nobody some days and plenty on other days, planning to spend a more substantial budget on food & drink, and expecting noise.

These all impact your spiritual life and walk. So, for this seemingly simple task of opening your home for meetings, many challenges come, so get ready, and always be the gracious host.

While you are doing that, you can ask the Lord about your ministry. However, one step of faith needs to be clearly understood. Like the stones of Solomon's temple, we are all be crafted off-site in our typical lives. How graciously we accept the changes impacts the shapeliness of our eventual stone in the temple, so don't allow hidden bitterness or hardness.

This all means that, despite you thinking you are not being designed into your ministry, you may be. God does not waste His time.

Today's Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for the work you currently have me to do. I appreciate your confidence in me and help me perfect every role you get me to do, to the best of my abilities. Please help me to understand that each task I undertake in moulding me somehow. Help me accept the changes faithfully.
