Poem: The War for Your Mind

A message for Overcomers by Niven A Neyland

Rev 21:7 “He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I shall be his God, and he shall be my son.

There is a battle raging for control of your mind. What that means is – what is it that your mind will choose in instances of attack.  Your heart can change at a whim but if your mind is solid and your resolve set, you can win.

The fiery darts of the wicked generally come in waves, like an opposing army; and so we are told to “Submit yourselves therefore to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you.” If you resist, the devil WILL flee, along with the temptation.  The violent take the Kingdom by storm, and resisting is warfare. It is your defence line. Praise, worship and prayer are parts of your forward line, utilised in attack.

When trouble besets you

And decisions upset you

Consider the war for your mind

Will I view it or wont I?

Do I listen or don’t I?

There IS a war for your mind

When your tongue wants to waggle

And chatter sets in

And you feel you’ve become mis-aligned

Put in the bridle

And raise up the standard

And you’ll win

The war for your mind

When the darts of your past

Come in like a fire

And rage up what you left behind

It’s just a reminder

To keep well aware

There’s war being fought for your mind

When you know what is right

But want what is wrong

Think of the war for your mind

For when lust hath conceived

And brought forth its death

You’ve lost the war for your mind

When you’re all double-minded

Unstable in thought

And the eyes of your heart

Seem so blind

Pray for stability

Get right on your knees

Don’t forget

This is war for your mind

When temptation is raging

And enticement is near

A certain way out you will find

For they who endure

This brief time of battle

Will win the war for their mind

At evening and morning

And noon shall I praise

And thy law in my heart

Will I bind

‘cause the smell is so sweet

of the victory I need

for the war going on for my mind
